The Capital One Arena is a 20,000 seat state-of-the-art multipurpose sports and entertainment venue in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, DC. Hosting more than 220 events annually, the Capital One Arena has been credited with the vast gentrification Chinatown has experienced since the Capital One Arena opened in 1997. Since opening on December 2, 1997, the Capital One Arena has hosted more than 3,087 events with 36.5 million people in attendance.
The District of Columbia renamed the street in front of the Capital One Arena “Abe Pollin Way”, in 2007, as an accreditation to the original owner and visionary who envisioned and built the arena and helped revitalize the area.
The Capital One Arena is well known for hosting many high profile events, such as the 1998 Stanley Cup Final, the NBA (2001) and WNBA (2002, 2007) All-Star Games, and the 2003 World Figure Skating Champsionship, as well as all time greats and chart topping artists, including Justin Timberlake, Barbra Streisand, Prince, and Keith Urban.
